Fall Spawning Brown Trout
The fall brown trout spawning run is always an interesting time in the Eastern Sierra. These pictures give a fisherman's eye view of the fish on their redds during the spawning run in a small tributary of the Owens River.
Next are some video snippets of spawning activity in the North Fork of Bishop Creek.

Many small Owens River tributaries are riparian strips of green crossing sagebrush terrain. Willows and cottonwoods provide shade. The stream bottom substrate consists of gravels, weedbeds and undercut banks. When I approached this stream, dark forms streaked to the undercuts. After considerable patience and stillness on my part, the trout felt safe to return.
Most of the rest of these images are telephoto shots from the same position as this wide angle shot.
The last two images mark where the fish are in the other images and where in the next wide angle view the other fish pictures are.
