  • On Thanksgiving Day in 2007 I drove to Bodie, through the park and north on the Masonic Road. I turned off at a side road and drove o 10,000 feet on Bodie Mountain. At sunrise I started shooting panoramas of the surrounding area from the top of the peak. Sections of some of these that include Bodie are included here, starting with this image. The town is tucked in its valley in the upper right of the image.

  • Visitors to Bodie, who just drive in, park and walk among the bulidings see a small flat valley that gives no hint to the mountains and valleys in the surrounding countryside. The Masonic Road climbs north from Bodie, From the north, the White Mountains form the left skyline and Glass Mountain peaks through the sunrise haze on the right skyline.
