Bodie: A Ghost Town
Less than ten percent of the original buildings of this mining boom town remain in the high desert north of Mono Lake. Fires and time have taken their toll. In March of the dry winter of 2007 there were only scattered patches of snow on the ground.

Visitors to Bodie, who just drive in, park and walk among the bulidings see a small flat valley that gives no hint to the mountains and valleys in the surrounding countryside.The Masonic Road climbs north from Bodie, From the north, the White Mountains form the left skyline and Glass Mountain peaks through the sunrise haze on the right skyline.
